This Photographer Captured Something So Extremely Rare, No One Will Probably Ever See It Again.

While wolves are known to live in packs, bears are usually solitary animals. So when wildlife photographer Lassi Rautiainen discovered this unlikely pair in the wilds of northern Finland, he knew he came upon a beautiful and rare phenomenon: A lone female grey wolf living alongside a big male brown bear.

For the 10 days he spent observing them, Lassi witnessed the young bear and wolf meet and spend time together.

Not only did they hang out together…

But they also shared their kills.

This behavior is extremely unusual in predators of different species.

But this pair ignored the laws of nature. 

Other bears seemed to also welcome the young wolf into their company.

No one knows why or how why this pair came together and became friends. “I think that perhaps they were both alone and they were young and a bit unsure of how to survive alone”, Lassi said. ”It seems to me that they feel safe being together”. No matter how it came to be, this is a beautiful and rare event that no one would ever expect to see.
